Greg Chappell on Indian Culture

It is amusing to hear Gregory Stephen Chappell aka Greg Chappell on Indian Culture.

Link to the article: Greg Chappell attacks Indian Culture and Cricket team

What surprises me is, during the years 2005 to 2007, while he was being paid by India, the Indian money, belonging to Indians, by Indians of Indian culture, he didn't have an iota of negativity on the same culture, the hand that was feeding him.

Now at his 64th year (yeah he was born in the year 1948), he suddenly realises that he has misgivings about  Indian Culture. Frankly who cares? No wonder our Dada Saurav Ganguly treated this loose tongued chappie appropriately while he was Indian coach.

I thought Australians did sledging only on cricket field that too by jealous juveniles. Looks like they have moved to the next level with seniles like Greg Chappell lecturing the world on Indian Culture!

Greg blames(?) the 'poms' (first time I heard that Britishers were also know as this!), the current state of Indian Culture. Mr. Chappell, were you born when Britishers were ruling India? Were you in India when Britishers were ruling India?? Are you holding any authoritative qualification on Cultures???

So, if he thinks that Australia or Australians have a better culture, he better know that, the same has been borrowed from the poms but the Australians compete fiercely among themselves with such insane comments.

What exactly is your problem Greg? or who exactly is your problem against? Are you still nursing the wounds of a bruised ego that you are trying to take revenge by blabbering such idiotic comments?
suggestion... get over it, pal.

Frankly, now I have a feeling that chaps like Greg Chappell may be circulating stories about Indians and Indian culture in local press, which manifests in the angry ourbursts against our children who go to Australian universities to acquire knowledge (for a hefty sum of course). Suggest Australian government does muffle such stray gods (misspelt on purpose) like Greg Chappell from keeping foot in their mouths.

Yeah that's right, Mr. Chappell, if guys like you continue to do such antics, you need to be careful before you put another foot in our holy home land. True, in our Indian Culture, we adore cricket and cricketers, but don't have patience for lunatics, bull-shitters and sledgers like you.

I am aware there are a number articles, blogs that are tearing Greg apart. Please do your part, leave your sincere feedback on the comments made by this guy. Thanks.

Golf and Cricket

At the very outset I want to mention that Golf is an expensive sport.

I resisted for long to join the Golf brigade. I got an opportunity to join a beginner's course to try it out.

First question the Pro (or Coach) asked me was - how good are you at playing cricket. True, I played street cricket in childhood and told him the same honestly and I could see a sense of relief on his face, the reason for which I realised later.

We have heard of wristy players, helicopter shots, reverse sweeps, cover drives, hooks, play along with the swing or spin etcetera. Quite frankly, these are simply inapplicable if you want to play golf.

No one is lunging at you menacingly at whatever speed, with a hard red or white ball or teasing you with a doosra or teesra. There is only a harmless 46grams small ball (nearly a third of the size of a cricket ball) sitting on the grass waiting for you to hit or not. Yeah, in the first lesson, I was able to hit only one out of three balls.

The golf Irons, Wedges, Drivers or Putters are not as heavy as a cricket bat, bet it English or Indian or Pakistani willow.

All that you need is to know how to grip the golf clubs, your stance (I know you must be imagining the exaggerated bum movement by Mr.Bean), the swing and most importantly the accurate hit. Golf players how much ever high they are in the hierarchy of the game, every one does practice in golf ranges. Golf ranges are the stadiums where golf players are provided with individual bays to practice their shots by borrowing golf balls from a vending machine.

Golf is not a team game. Once you get your PC (proficiency certificate), you can go on to greens to do further practice on chipping and if you have got your handicaps, you can join a few to play a game on a golf course. Unknown to many, unless a player has a handicaps, they will not be allowed to play game with fellow golfers.

So, those who haven't had a big chance to play cricket can take heart. It will certainly be easy for them to adapt to playing golf. To be fair, I am not saying that reverse is not true. Kapil Dev did try to play golf and think he does still too.

Happy to hear readers comments and views on this post.

IPL-5 Auctions

I agree with Sunil Gavaskar's view that IPL season 5 auction could have been postponed slightly till the dust on Sahara group pulling out of sponsorship is settled down.

Also after the drubbing that our Indian team got in the hands of Australian team, despite a tiny win of T20I, image of many of the stalwart cricketers has been tarnished. Important example is that of VVSLaxman. In addition there are more than 110 cricketers who have gone unsold!

Perhaps IPL5 auctions could have been done a bit later?

Get Well Soon, Yuvi!

It was with great shock to hear that our favourite charismatic cricketer Yuvraj Singh is diagnosed with lung cancer and undergoing chemotherapy in US. From bottom of our hearts, we sincerely pray for early recovery of this talented cricketer. We will be keen to see him in action in IPL5.

May God be with you Yuvi, we all pray for you! Get Well Soon! Best wishes for your speedy recovery.
